The Campus Work Center


















The Campus Work Center is located in the Vocational Building, situated behind the Main Building on the River Street Campus.  Activities include bench/production work training tasks, sub-contract jobs, as well as orientation to simple hand tools and basic office machines.  Daily sessions are 60 minutes in length, involving 15-20 students with 2-3 staff.  Depending on level of functioning and proximity to graduation, students may progress to multiple daily sessions (2 then 3).    

Bench Tasks involve the acquisition of a variety of basic skills, including the use of small hand tools (manual and electric screw drivers, wrenches) for assembly, disassembly and sorting, as well as weighing using digital scales and sealing/packaging tasks including the use of electric heat sealers.




















Clerical Tasks include collating, hand folding, stapling, removing staples, stuffing envelopes, sealing envelopes, labeling, affixing postage stamps, stamping, as well as the use of rotary paper trimers and electric paper shredders, paper folders, paper punches and staplers.
