Vocational Outreach Program

The Vocational Outreach Program was started in January 2008 in response to a need on the part of the Connecticut Bureau of Rehabilitation Services for specialized services for Deaf and Hearing Impaired clients seeking employment.

The Outreach Program is staffed by a team of four Job Placement Counselors. Eric Coughlin, Pat Nelson, Dawn Maselli and Diane Provenzano all have extensive experience working in the community with persons with disabilities, and specialize in working with Deaf and Hearing Impaired clients and persons on the Autism Spectrum.

Outreach staff provide community-based services to adult clients with disabilities referred by the Connecticut Bureau of Rehabilitation Services.  They assist clients in preparing for employment, help with job search activities, and provide support after a job is secured.  Ongoing supports are provided to persons who have been employed for some time but might need minimal supports to retain their employment. The Outreach Program provides support to an average of fifty clients each month.

Services are also provided to local school districts in the areas of Vocational Evaluations, Transition Assistance and Planning, Staff training and Development and American Sign Language interpretation.
